Get to Know Richard Turnquist, Your Inaugural First Vice-President/Treasurer.

Former business office staffer turned analytics professional. Eager to learn from -- and help elevate -- all of the amazing analytics professionals in the sports industry!

Message from Richard

What role analytics plays and how it is supported for sport organizations, especially at the college level, is still being defined. Sports D.A.T.A. will help impact the future of analytics in the sports industry by demonstrating that analytics is fundamental to our future success, not a luxury.

About the First Vice-President/Treasurer role

The First Vice-President/Treasurer shall:

  1. perform the duties of the office of President in the absence of the President or in case of the President’s inability to act; and
  2. supervise the financial activities of the Corporation.  Specifically, the First Vice President/Treasurer shall see that (i) full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements are kept, (ii) a system is in place such that all monies and other valuable effects are deposited in the name and to the credit of the Corporation in such depositories as shall be designated by the Board,(iii) the Directors at the regular meetings of the Board or whenever they may require it, receive an account of the financial condition of the Corporation, and (iv) an annual audit of the Corporation’s books and records is performed by an auditor selected by the Board, if required by the Board or applicable law.  

In performing these functions, the Second Vice President/Treasurer may rely on employees of the Corporation who possess special financial training and skills and whose employment responsibilities include management of the Corporation’s financial affairs.  In the absence or disability of the First Vice President/Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer, if any, shall perform all the duties of the Treasurer and when so acting shall have all of the powers of and be subject to all of the restrictions upon the Treasurer.  The First Vice President/Treasurer shall have such other powers and shall perform such other duties as the Board of Directors shall, from time to time, specifically prescribe.
